About
My Approach
As a fellow traveler on life's journey, I believe in the profound truth expressed by Henri Nouwen: "The truth, even though I cannot feel it right now, is that I am the chosen child of God, precious in God's eyes, called the Beloved from all eternity, and held safe in an everlasting belief." This understanding forms the foundation of my therapeutic practice.
I integrate several evidence-based approaches to meet you exactly where you are:
Experiential therapy to process emotions through lived experience rather than just talk
EMDR therapy for healing from trauma and distressing life experiences
Emotionally Focused therapy to create secure attachments in your relationships
Gottman Method (Level Two Certified) for couples seeking to strengthen their relationship
Internal Family Systems to help you understand and harmonize the different parts of yourself
Solution-Focused therapy to build on your strengths and move toward your goals
My style is collaborative and client-centered. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you, offering both compassionate understanding and practical guidance.
Who I Work With
Couples navigating relationship challenges and transitions
Individuals seeking to heal from past wounds and discover their authentic selves
Trauma survivors working to reclaim their lives and find meaning in their experiences
Those healing from religious trauma who are reconciling faith experiences with personal growth
My Journey to Becoming a Therapist
At 59 years old, I embarked on a new chapter by pursuing my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy at Lipscomb University. I realized that I had already experienced many of life's greatest blessings: over 40 years of marriage, two accomplished adult children, and the deep joy of having four grandchildren who love to make homemade biscuits and play games around the kitchen table every weekend.
The ministry years was a sacred calling, and returning to school was a continuation of that work expressed in a different way. It had been many decades since I had been in school and I was not quite sure I could even pass the entrance exam. The entire process was both daunting and exhilarating yet ended with a master’s degree and an induction into the National Honor Society. Through this process, it was deeply affirmed in my heart that it is never too late to keep growing and becoming all that you are capable of – and called to be for the sake of others.
My years of ministry, combined with my academic training and life experience, have gifted me with unique insights into the human spirit and the complexities of relationships.
What You Can Expect
I believe that when the soul is finally able to feel its worth, every mountain you've ever faced will move out of your way. Our work together will be to create a sanctuary where healing becomes possible, where you can explore challenges, discover strengths, and work toward reclaiming the wholeness that has always existed within you.
